Jan Vertonghen reacts on Twitter after Spurs are robbed against Newcastle

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has called upon the Football Association to make changes after watching his old side robbed of three points.

The home side should have comfortably put the game beyond Newcastle United during a match which they completely dominated, but only had Lucas Moura’s 25th-minute tap to show for their efforts.

Just when it looked like Spurs were going to register their second Premier League win of the new season, Andy Carroll’s header made contact with the arm of Eric Dier, who had his back to the ball while attempting to challenge the Newcastle man in the air.

Referee Peter Bankes pointed to the spot after consulting with the pitchside monitor to the frustration of the Spurs players and staff.

Vertonghen, who left North London after eight years at the end of last season to join Benfica believes that the FA now need to take a closer look at themselves following some ludicrous decisions.
