John Textor, the American businessman currently in discussions with Everton owner Farhad Moshiri, does not have exclusive rights to buy the Premier League club, according to BBC journalist Giulia Bould. Despite ongoing negotiations, Textor’s involvement is limited due to his current holdings in Crystal Palace.
Bould reported via X (formerly Twitter) on 16 September that Textor cannot move forward with a full takeover of Everton until he offloads his shares in Crystal Palace. As a result, he lacks exclusivity in the business dealings surrounding the potential sale of the Merseyside club.
“Interesting that one as my understanding is Textor doesn’t have exclusivity in business terms as he isn’t in a position to buy,” Bould wrote in her update.
This development comes amid renewed interest from American businessman Dan Friedkin, who has reportedly re-entered discussions about a potential takeover of Everton. According to Bloomberg, talks with key stakeholders have resumed as Friedkin eyes the opportunity to acquire the club.
The ownership situation at Everton remains in flux as multiple parties explore potential bids for the historic football institution, with fans awaiting clarity on the future of their club.
