‘Just wanted to update you all’ – Seamus Coleman issues positive injury update

Following his injury in Everton’s match against Leicester City on Monday night, Seamus Coleman has given an update on his condition, informs the SportsJoe.

The Republic of Ireland captain sustained the injury after a challenge from Boubakary Soumare while contesting a loose ball, causing his knee to buckle under pressure. Despite receiving treatment on the pitch, he had to be stretchered off to a warm ovation from the crowd. Initial fears were that Coleman may have sustained ACL damage or broken his leg, but he has since given a positive update on his injury.

Coleman updated fans on his injury with a message on Instagram:

“Just wanted to update you all, thanks so much for all the well wishes, just back from my scan & pleased to say I have no ACL damage. Be back soon.”

After being sidelined with a hamstring injury for three matches, Coleman returned to Everton’s starting line-up for their game against Leicester City. The 34-year-old defender was performing well in the crucial match and was expected to play an important role in the team’s battle to avoid relegation. Coleman, who has been with Everton since 2009, is set to become a free agent at the end of the season.

In March 2017, Coleman suffered a severe knee injury due to a dangerous tackle by Neil Taylor during a World Cup qualifier between Ireland and Wales at the Aviva Stadium. After a long road to recovery, the Irish captain made his return to the pitch in January 2018.
