Spurs fans have been giving their thoughts on the report claiming Antonio Conte is likely to take a sabbatical.
Tottenham were seemingly closing in on the Italian as a potential replacement for Jose Mourinho.
However, negotiations ground to a halt last week and, according to BBC Sport, won’t be resuming.
The outlet claimed there were “suggestions from Italy” that Conte had doubts over Tottenham’s transfer budget.
They also hinted at differences between Conte’s reputation for buying ready-made stars and Spurs’ desire to develop players.
Meanwhile, Duncan Castles claimed that Conte wasn’t happy with the salary on offer.
Speaking on the Transfer Window podcast, he also claimed that Conte was reportedly holding out for the Paris Saint-Germain job.
However, Goal.com has now suggested that the 51-year-old plans to take some time out of football.
The outlet claimed Fabio Paratici is likely to join Spurs, but he’ll do so without Conte.
“After two high-octane seasons with Inter, he looks destined towards a sabbatical to recharge his batteries,” they said, barring a “spectacular twist”.
Some Spurs fans, already unimpressed with how things are going, are now joking that Conte is taking time out as a direct result of talking to the club.
