‘Look at the mistakes he is making’ – Wright says West Ham 26-year-old needs to ‘do more’ in training

David Moyes has been criticized by Ian Wright in the wake of West Ham United’s 4-0 loss to Brighton, and Wright has also lambasted Nayef Aguerd and others for their errors, which could lead to the club’s relegation to the Championship.

Not long ago, West Ham had their best performance of the season against Nottingham Forest, with January signing Danny Ings scoring twice.

However, things have taken a turn for the worse, and the team is now struggling after being dismantled by Brighton, who are known for their free-scoring style.

Despite spending heavily during the summer transfer window, West Ham has regressed, and Moyes’ cause has not been helped by the team’s lethargic style of play and their failure to improve despite the addition of new players.

They are now deeply embroiled in a relegation battle, and pressure on Moyes is mounting, with Wright calling out several individuals.

Ian Wright said: “You worry for Moyes because beating Forest so convincingly, then playing like they did against Man United and losing so convincingly (against Brighton),”

“As a manager, I am scratching my head. What’s going on? They have to have a meeting. You can’t go bam, bam, bam like that at this stage of the season. What is happening with these mistakes? There is nothing a manager can do about players making mistakes. But when mistakes are happening continuously and in West Ham’s games. Defending and individual mistakes. That can be eradicated because that’s on you.

“You look at one of the goals. I think Ben Johnson is at the back. For a defender to be at the back post and not be aware of what’s around him is a massive mistake and something that can be fixed, easily. Take the mistakes out and say ‘look at the mistakes we are making. We are losing games because of this’. You can’t be in a meeting and just hammer people. You have to say ‘what’s happening? Why are you making these mistakes?’.

“Aguerd, you look at the mistakes he is making. They have to do more work on the training ground with him to make him more aware of what’s going on because their mistakes are going to cost them their position in this league. They are making too many.”
