‘Most of our duels’ – West Ham defender highlights component for survival after excellent display

Thilo Kehrer has identified the crucial element that he believes will enable the Hammers to finish the season on a positive note, informs the WHW.

While this campaign has had little to cheer about so far, the team’s performance against league leaders Arsenal has injected new life into the club. As they seek to secure Premier League survival and win a European trophy in the final weeks of the season, the unity and determination displayed against the Gunners evoke memories of the back-to-back European qualifications achieved in previous seasons. Many fans hope that this recent success will serve as a catalyst for a turnaround and a successful conclusion to the current campaign.

West Ham’s summer signing Kehrer was called upon to partner Kurt Zouma in defense against Arsenal and put in an impressive display. He believes that the team needs to use the performance as a foundation for future matches. Kehrer stated on the club’s official website, “From 20 minutes onwards, we were outstanding. The whole team were there and the fans were there. The energy was great and we had chances. We defended well and we won most of our duels. That is the key for us. We are happy with about 70 minutes of the game and the result.”

Although the team was happy with the performance and result, Kehrer also emphasized that the team remains humble and positive, and will carry the momentum forward.

Kehrer said: “We were dominating in the second half and we had more chances than them. We are happy with the result and the point, but we know we could have won. But we have to stay humble, analyse it, take this result and go forward.

“I’m happy to help the team with the assist but I think the more important thing for us is, no matter what, keep in the game. That counts for all of us in the team and now, for the rest of the season, we need to stick together and fight for each other. That’s the way to go.

“The fans were terrific and the attitude of the team, and the leadership from the players as well as the energy we showed, got us over the line.”
