Tanguy Ndombele is loving life at Tottenham Hotspur as he shines in matches and on the training pitches and his social media activity represents his new happiness, reports the Football.London.
The 23-year-old Frenchman has been a revelation this season after a tough first campaign in which he struggled for fitness and minutes under Mourinho and his future at the club was the subject of constant speculation.
However, Ndombele returned this summer with real drive and motivation and his fitness has been greatly increased, with his performances catching everyone eye, including Mourinho’s.
“He is playing amazing. He is playing so, so well. You can feel the happiness and a happy player his performance goes in the right direction,” the Spurs head coach told football.london.
“Physically he can be better, he has to be better, he will be better, but in this moment if you compare this Tanguy with the Tanguy of last season, the Tanguy of this pre-season – a pre-season he did not have much of because of his injury and other problems – there is no point in comparing because they are so different.
“Yesterday I had a big hug with him, just for the feeling of what he gave for the 90 minutes. I am very happy with Tanguy, but he can be better because he can be really phenomenal.”
Those inside Tottenham say Ndombele is far more settled and happier within the group at the club and videos and images from training certainly back that up with the Frenchman often smiling or laughing.
Social media is also showing that with Serge Aurier capturing the midfielder singing and laughing on the flight back from the 6-1 win at Manchester United on Sunday, in which Ndombele scored and put in another top drawer performance.
Ndombele’s own social media posts have been more frequent, particularly his Instagram story posts.
The young France international is not a regular user of social media but his Instagram posts and stories have been more regular this season and full of him enjoying himself in and around the club.
On Thursday, he posted an Instagram story video of him joking and laughing with birthday boy Steven Bergwijn in the dressing room at the training ground.
That followed the photo above of him enjoying himself in training at Hotspur Way the previous day and it all shows how much Ndombele has now settled in as a popular player in the group.
The player told RMC Sport after the victory at Old Trafford that he and Mourinho have put their differences behind them.
“We had a few differences last season, the coach and I,” he admitted.
“Aside from that, we are trying to each put our egos to one side, to allow the club to advance. For the moment things are working for the better, let’s continue like that.”
