‘Nightmare continues to worsen’ – Everton man to watch rest of the season from stands

Dele Alli, currently on loan at Besiktas from Everton, is witnessing a rapid decline in his career. Everton had acquired him on a free transfer from Tottenham Hotspur in January 2022, hoping that the move would help him regain his form and steer his career back on track. However, his performance so far has been insufficient to revive his career, reports the PRT.

Not too long ago, Alli was considered one of the most promising talents in global football, renowned for his flashy attacking skills that would dismantle opponents. He was once seen as the pride of English football. However, his fortunes have taken a nosedive in the past three seasons.

Alli’s switch to Goodison Park was seen as a lifeline and a potential opportunity to resuscitate his career in England. But the then-manager, Frank Lampard, did not use Alli regularly as the Toffees were embroiled in a relegation battle until the penultimate day of the Premier League season. The Englishman played only 11 times, with just two starts in the second half of the campaign.

Alli, who was not a regular player in Lampard’s team, was sent on loan to Besiktas in the summer. This loan move might have been Alli’s last chance to revive his dwindling career. However, his performances so far have not been convincing, and there are doubts about whether he can return to his previous form. Besiktas manager Senol Gunes has been very vocal about Alli’s poor form and lack of effort, stating that he is not performing at the required level for the team.

In fact, Besiktas has considered terminating Alli’s contract or ending his loan spell prematurely, but they would still have to pay the full loan fee. Hence, they have decided against taking such action. Alli’s situation has now hit a new low as he is unlikely to play for the remainder of the season, according to Inside Futbol. He has fallen completely out of favour with Gunes and is not in the match day squad for the last two games.

Alli’s Turkish nightmare continues to worsen, and he is hoping to end the loan spell and return to Goodison to reassess his future. However, it is unlikely that Everton will want to keep him, and they could look to sell him in the summer transfer window.
