‘Not a very good advert’ – Former Premier League referee slams Yerry Mina’s actions

During Everton’s 3-0 loss to Manchester City over the weekend, Yerry Mina’s actions have been criticized by a former Premier League referee, writes the LiverpoolWorld.

After two impressive goals from Ilkay Gundogan and a header from Erling Haaland, Everton couldn’t keep up with Pep Guardiola’s side, and now they must focus on their final two games against Wolves and Bournemouth.

Following his impressive display against Brighton, Yerry Mina started for Everton in the game against Manchester City. However, during the match, he was involved in an altercation with City’s Aymeric Laporte. The two players collided in the box after a corner, with Laporte seen pushing off Mina aggressively, who then dramatically fell to the ground.

Former Premier League referee Gallagher criticized Mina’s behavior and expressed his disapproval of the incident during his appearance on Sky Sports News’ Ref Watch on Monday morning.

Gallagher concluded: “He certainly didn’t hit him in the face where he goes down like that, it’s almost like a fly swat. What we haven’t seen is he’s [Laporte] grabbed hold of him and said ‘get off me’ and suddenly he’s been punched in the face which certainly didn’t happen.

“It’s not a very good advert.”
