‘Not my concern really’ – Frank Lampard gives blunt response to Everton relegation

Despite having managed Everton for more than half of the campaign, Frank Lampard has stated that he is not concerned with the club’s relegation battle, writes the LiverpoolEcho.

When Lampard was sacked by the Toffees in January, they were in 19th place. Their 2-0 defeat to West Ham United was the final straw, leading Farhad Moshiri to quickly appoint Sean Dyche as his replacement. At the time of Lampard’s departure, Everton had played 20 top-flight fixtures. Dyche has since been able to rally the squad and lift the Blues marginally above the relegation zone.

Chelsea’s interim manager, Frank Lampard, has an opportunity to help Everton by securing a win against Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge. This victory could relieve the pressure on the Toffees before their challenging match against Manchester City.

Nonetheless, Lampard has stated that he is not concerned about Everton’s relegation battle, despite managing the club for over half of the season. During his pre-match press conference, he said, “Perhaps (beating Forest would assist Everton). However, at this stage, Everton’s destiny is in their own hands.”

“It’s not my concern really. I lived that life last year. I have a lot of connection to the club and the year I had there was a really enjoyable time for me.

“But, as much as I will support from afar, it’s not really my concern as Chelsea manager. Of course, I hope they get the job done because I know what that feeling is (like).”
