‘Pub team, he can only score’ – Callum Wilson ‘mocked’ Michail Antonio for scoring against AEK Larnaca

Callum Wilson mocked Michail Antonio for scoring a brace in the first leg of the Europa Conference League Round of 16 match against AEK Larnaca, writes the HITC.

Despite struggling for form this season, West Ham striker displayed his class in the game, which his team went on to win 4-0 to secure a place in the last eight to face Belgian side Genk. Wilson and Antonio are very close friends and often make fun of each other on BBC’s Footballer’s Football Podcast.

In response to Michail Antonio’s performance in the Europa Conference League, Callum Wilson made a comment on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, where the two friends usually joke about each other. Wilson mocked Antonio’s goals by saying that he can only score against “pub teams” like Larnaka, and that he could have easily scored five goals himself against such low-level opponents.

He joked about the quality of the competition, saying that the players were probably working at bars on the pleasure beach before suddenly finding themselves playing a football match.

Wilson also criticized Antonio for boasting about his form in the league. In return, Antonio challenged Wilson to see how he would fare against such “pub players.” However, despite the joking, it was clear that the two players share a close friendship.

“It was a good game, I enjoyed it and got two goals. I should’ve had a hat trick, I hit the post. It would’ve been the perfect hat trick too, header, right foot left foot.”
