Real Madrid offered Tottenham an unthinkable Gareth Bale deal
One of the most eye-catching deals of a strange summer transfer window was the decision from Tottenham Hotspur to re-sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid. The Welshman served some terrific seasons at White Hart Lane, before finally returning a new Tottenham stadium this season.
And the Welshman’s performances seem to have improved since he made the switch from Real Madrid, where he was clearly out of place for some seasons. Although he has only scored one goal and seems to be settling in slow, it would have been naive to think he’d have a quick start to his return to Tottenham.
Spurs sit second in the Premier League table as it stands and are in good form, unbeaten in their last five league games. Many memed the Welshman after his substitute performance against West Ham, which saw him brought on only for Spurs to concede three goals. However, he eventually got his goal against Brighton and Hove Albion.
According to a new report from Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid have given Spurs the opportunity to sign their loaned out player at an incredibly reduced price. The report claims that Spurs could pick up the Welshman in the summer, at the end of his loan spell, for only £13.4m.
In today’s market, this is an incredible bargain. While Bale may not have been the best in recent seasons, he is more at home in the Premier League. There is also undeniable quality there to be unlocked, and if anyone can do that, it’s Jose Mourinho.
Of course, Spurs have the remainder of the season to see if they truly want to sign Gareth Bale. If he carries on the way he has been playing, it may not be worth it, but I’m sure his performances will begin to gather pace as time progresses.
