Reguilon reveals whether he sees himself returning to Real Madrid in the future
In what comes as a potential blow to Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of holding onto Sergio Reguilon in the long term, the left-back has admitted that he still dreams of returning to Real Madrid in the future.
Reguilon has made a fantastic start to life in North London and has already demonstrated the attributes that made him so sought-after during the transfer window.
The left-back seems destined for the top but it remains to be seen if that will be at Spurs as Real Madrid have inserted a buy-back clause that would allow them to re-sign him for around £35m until the summer of 2022 (Evening Standard).
With Marcelo struggling for form at the start of this campaign, reports indicate that the Los Blancos could activate the buy-back clause as early as next summer (AS via Sport Witness).
The Spainish international, who came through the Real Madrid academy has insisted that the club will always hold a place in his heart.
When asked if he sees himself returning to the Spanish capital in the future, Reguilon told El Larguero (as translated by ESPN FC’s Alex Kirkland): “Madrid is my home and where I grew up. In the future, you never know but the possibility is there.
“I didn’t speak to the boss, it was more with the club. I know what they think of me, I had to take a decision. Time will tell. I didn’t ask for explanations.”
