The Telegraph claim that Antonio Conte wants Tottenham to raid Everton for England no.1 Jordan Pickford – but he could cost more than £25million.
Pickford, 27, remains the first name on Everton’s team sheet. He does so under Gareth Southgate for England, too – despite numerous options.
The 42-time England star has competition from the likes of Nick Pope, Aaron Ramsdale, Sam Johnstone and Dean Henderson – but is first choice.
The goalkeeping situation at Tottenham is an upcoming issue. Hugo Lloris, the club’s captain, is out of contract at the end of the season.
Whether the 2018 World Cup winner signs a new deal remains to be seen. Lloris said this week that he is open to talks with the club, to extend his stay.
The report states that Conte – who likes a goalkeeper in his prime such as Thibaut Courtois or Samir Handanovic – wants Pickford from Everton.
The Toffees are struggling with Financial Fairplay – and selling Pickford could help. They want more than the £25million they spent to sign him.
Everton ace Pickford has been criticised in the past, making a few mistakes here and there. The microscope is always bigger when an England regular.
But Pickford has come through those times and what remains is a top, top goalkeeper – brilliant with the ball at his feet. He is one of the league’s best.
He is of course, good friends with numerous Spurs stars due to his England duty – Harry Kane, Harry Winks, Dele Alli, Eric Dier, etc.
Brought to Spurs, Conte and Fabio Paratici would be pulling off an impressive feat. Even if he does cost more than £25million.
TransferMarkt report that he has the same agent as both Joe Rodon, and Ben Davies.
