Report: Everton road paved for £21m striker they attempted to sign two years ago

FC Inter News reports that if Everton were to show any interest in Inter Milan forward Joaquin Correa during the summer transfer window, they could have a clear path to sign him.

According to GN, the 28-year-old Argentine, who joined the Italian club from Napoli in January 2022 for a fee of £21 million, has struggled to settle at the San Siro and has scored only three goals from 20 appearances this season. According to the report, Correa is likely to move abroad in the summer, having “already run his course in Milan.” Everton had previously tried to sign him, with an “agreement in principle” reached in the summer of 2021 before the deal fell apart. The report suggests that at the moment, Everton is the “most plausible club on paper” for the striker, and if they show interest, the path to a transfer would be clear.

In the last year, Everton has been linked to several strikers, and Correa is another option worth considering. Despite struggling to make an impact at Inter Milan, there is no doubt that the Argentine forward is a talented player. With 20 caps for the Argentina national team since 2017, Correa has plenty of experience and would relish the opportunity to play in the Premier League. However, his poor goal output is a concern.

He has only scored nine goals for Inter Milan in the past season and a half and has never reached double figures in a single league campaign. Everton is in desperate need of a striker this summer, but the reported £21million price tag for someone who has never played in England and has struggled for goals recently might be too steep.
