Report: Everton ‘set sights’ on West Ham veteran with uncertain future

If Everton secures safety, they may turn their attention to a West Ham attacker with an uncertain future, according to a recent report that also makes a big claim about Michail Antonio.

As relays the Hammer News, although Everton has been linked with several West Ham players in recent months, they appear to have a particular interest in Antonio, who has been among the Hammers’ standout performers in the past couple of months. In fact, David Moyes has singled out Antonio as the key player who could help ensure West Ham’s Premier League survival.

The powerful forward, who will turn 34 next season, was strongly linked with a move away from West Ham during the January transfer window, with Everton, Forest, Wolves, and even Chelsea reportedly interested in signing him. There has been much speculation that he will leave West Ham in the summer while the club can still demand a transfer fee for him.

However, Antonio proved his worth by scoring the winner in West Ham’s 2-1 victory over AZ Alkmaar in the first leg of their Europa Conference League semi-final this week. A new report suggests that he is now at the top of Sean Dyche’s list of transfer targets. Additionally, if Everton secures safety, they are expected to pursue the uncertain future West Ham attacker, as a report also claims that Michail Antonio is a major target for them.

According to talkSPORT: “Everton have strikers Michail Antonio and Che Adams in their sights if they can pull off Premier League survival. Boss Sean Dyche is in the market for a target-man after seeing his side struggle for goals for much of the season.

“The Toffees had a bid for Antonio, whose West Ham contract is up at the end of next season, rebuffed in January. Scotland international Adams is among a host of Saints players set to leave after their relegation was all but confirmed following Monday’s defeat at drop rivals Nottingham Forest.”
