Report: Tottenham man turns down Sarri, but Pochettino has joined the race

CalcioMercato claim Tanguy Ndombele has rejected a loan move to join Maurizio Sarri’s Napoli this month. But the interest to take the Tottenham star on loan is hotting up, with PSG and Atletico Madrid both interested.

Ndombele, 25, has started just one Premier League match since the arrival of Antonio Conte – the 2-2 draw with Liverpool. Other than that, Ndombele has managed two substitute outings, an unused sub on five other occasions.

Tottenham’s club-record signing is not living up to his transfer fee. A lack of effort, a poor attitude and his tantrum when coming off against Morecambe was more proof for Conte. Ndombele needs a fresh start elsewhere.

Tottenham are said to prefer a permanent deal but accept a loan might have to be sanctioned. CM claim Ndombele has rejected a move to join ex-Chelsea boss Sarri at Napoli – an ambitious move from the Serie A side.

But the interest remains in Ndombele and three European heavyweights are keen. A return to France, and a reunion with Mauricio Pochettino is on the cards. Diego Simeone wants him at Atleti, as do Barcelona.

Ndombele was right to reject a move to Napoli, Sarri-ball is likely to be too intense for the Frenchman – who prefers to control the tempo of the match. He likes to get on the ball and make things happen, rather than press.

PSG is perfect. They dominate the ball, looking to break down Ligue 1 opponents most weeks. They could do with improvements in midfield, that no.10 that can connect their attacking stars to the midfield.

Atletico Madrid would be far too defensive, and Barcelona are struggling to simply register players. PSG is Ndombele’s best and only decision.
