Sevilla are reportedly ‘fuming’ with what Chelsea target Jules Kounde has just done

Spanish club Sevilla are reportedly fuming with their defender Jules Kounde for potentially risking his transfer to Chelsea this summer, write the Chelsea Chronicle.

According to The Sun, the 23-year-old’s dream move to Chelsea has come into question because of an injury concern.

It is understood the centre-back had surgery this week on an old pelvic problem that flared up while on international duty with France, which has left the player very worried a move could fall through.

The report states Sevilla are ‘privately fuming’ that Kounde decided to play in France’s Nations League match against Croatia on Monday because he risked aggravating the injury even further.

Apparently, the La Liga club are trying to hold out for the full £69million release clause and want to push through a transfer quickly this summer.

It’s been reported Chelsea target Kounde is only expected to miss four weeks from his small surgery, though, so he should be ready to go for pre-season this summer.

It sounds like there would be a lot of angry people in Seville if Kounde’s transfer broke down due to an injury. Fortunately, that doesn’t seem like it will be the case.

In fairness, the competition for places in the France squad dictates you play whenever you get the opportunity.

The Sevilla centre-back showed his versatility by filling in at right-back against Croatia, but Chelsea are targeting him for his impressive centre-half displays in La Liga.

Thomas Tuchel’s side desperately need someone ready to make an immediate impact in the Blues defence next season.

Kounde’s played at least 40-plus games in each of the last five campaigns, so it doesn’t appear like there should be any red flags over injury worries once his current issue is resolved.
