Tottenham are confident of signing Swansea City defender Joe Rodon by Friday’s transfer cut-off Football Insider has learned.
The Londoners had a bid for the centre-back rejected on the international window deadline day last week.
But they have subsequently held extensive talks over a potential deal and progress has been made in recent days.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Tottenham are offering multiple formulas in a bid to get the deal over the finish line.
These include a cash-only option, player-plus-cash as well as a potential loan back.
The Championship club are said to want upwards of £15m for their academy product, who has entered the final two years of his contract.
Rodon is also wanted by West Ham ahead of the 5pm cut-off on Friday for domestic deals, but Tottenham are firmly in the driving seat to win the race for his signature.
Tottenham signed six senior stars during the main window that addressed many of the squad’s weaknesses.
But one area that fell short was in presenting Jose Mourinho with the centre-back he wanted after deals for Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar and Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger collapsed late on.
Rodon broke into the Swansea side after their demotion from the Premier League in 2018.
The 6t 3in powerhouse has played 54 times for the club, 52 of which have come in the Championship.
He has played the full 90 minutes of all four of Swansea’s league matches this season as well as representing Wales in their 3-0 defeat to England at Wembley last Thursday night.
