‘Superb’ – Stuart Pearce begs West Ham to bid for £80m player this summer

According to Stuart Pearce, Harry Maguire may leave Manchester United this summer, and he suggests the likes of Aston Villa, West Ham and Newcastle should try to sign the defender, as relayed by GBB.

Newcastle is reportedly seeking a right-sided center-back to compete with Fabian Schar in the starting lineup, and they have been linked with a move for Maguire. While some people, such as Danny Murphy and Callum Wilson, believe that Eddie Howe would appreciate Maguire as a player, Erik ten Hag reportedly thinks that he needs a fresh start and may leave Old Trafford this summer. Maguire has had some struggles recently, including making a mistake that led to Sevilla’s opening goal in the Europa League.

Pearce believes that Maguire needs to move on and has named three potential clubs that would be a good fit for the £80million defender: Aston Villa, West Ham, and Newcastle. Pearce praised Maguire’s abilities on TalkSPORT and encouraged these clubs to consider signing him for next season.

“I worked with him when he was an Under-21 player, he’s a good kid,” he said.

“I think his football’s good personally. He didn’t have a good night last night, granted. But for England he’s superb.

“I don’t think he’s been awful for Man United. That’s my opinion on the issue. He’s lost his place in the team, he’s [Ten Hag] decided to go with other players when they’re available and that’s something…he [Maguire] might need a move this summer.

“If I was Aston Villa, if I was West Ham, if I was Newcastle, I would be all over Harry Maguire to get him out of Manchester United if he was available. I really would.”
