‘That’s not going to happen’ – Paul Brown reacts to surprise Dyche decision at Everton

According to journalist Paul Brown, Sean Dyche made a wise decision by including Michael Keane in his team, writes the GMS.

The 30-year-old defender had fallen out of favor with former manager Frank Lampard but has found a place in Dyche’s squad. Keane joined Everton from Dyche’s previous team, Burnley, for a fee of roughly £30 million and is earning £80,000 per week at Goodison Park. He has only started four Premier League matches this season, all of which have been under the guidance of the new manager. Keane may have hoped for more frequent game time after working with Dyche at Burnley, but given the number of centre-backs on Everton’s roster, few supporters would have anticipated it.

Michael Keane is one of six senior central defenders at Everton, including Conor Coady, Mason Holgate, Ben Godfrey, Yerry Mina, and James Tarkowski. This is an excessive number of players for a team that typically plays with a back four. During the January transfer window, there were rumors that Keane could leave the club after losing favor with former manager Frank Lampard.

Journalist Dean Jones suggested that Everton was open to the idea of Keane departing. Despite this, Paul Brown has praised Dyche for bringing Keane into the squad over Coady, even though it was an unexpected decision.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, he said: “I think it was a big surprise to many that Dyche dropped Conor Coady and brought Keane in. There’s a very significant chunk of the fanbase who want to see Mina back and would like to see him in the team.

“It’s clear that’s not going to happen – Dyche prefers Keane in there. I do actually think he’s made the right call on that one.”
