‘The Dream’ – Player drops hint on social media over move to Tottenham

According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur is on the brink of completing their second signing of the summer, as Guglielmo Vicario is poised to join from Empoli, informs the SpursWeb.

Fabrizio Romano shared on Twitter that the 26-year-old goalkeeper is expected to fly from Spain to London today for his medical at Tottenham’s Hotspur Way training facility, finalizing his transfer from the Serie A club.

Vicario recently concluded his second season as Empoli’s first-choice goalkeeper in Serie A. Prior to that, he played in lower divisions in Italy and served as the second-choice goalkeeper at Cagliari in the 2020-21 season.

Although he has been a regular member of the Italian national squad since his first call-up in September last year, he is yet to earn his first cap, playing as an understudy to PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma.

In the early hours of Sunday, Vicario took to Instagram to share a photo of himself alongside his agent Gabriele Giuffrida, captioning it “Living the Dream.” Tottenham had also reached an agreement with David Raya, but they are unwilling to meet Brentford’s £40 million asking price as they search for a replacement for Hugo Lloris, who is expected to leave the club this summer, according to The Guardian.

Former Italy goalkeeper Gianluca Pagliuca acknowledged earlier this week that Tottenham is making a clever signing by bringing in Vicario.
