In fact, there were no new faces drafted in to join Mourinho’s squad, with Spurs set to continue as they were until the end of the season.

There was no return for Christian Eriksen, despite the rumours, while in terms of outgoings, Dele Alli did not seal the loan move to Paris Saint-Germain that he was looking for.

Here are the full ins and outs for Tottenham in January.

Jack Clarke to Stoke City (loan)

Jack Clarke is yet to make his breakthrough at Tottenham following his 2019 transfer from Leeds United and is now embarking on another loan move.

Having previously spent time with Leeds and QPR, Clarke will spend the remainder of the season with Stoke City – where he has already made an impression.

Since his arrival in Staffordshire in mid-January, Clarke has featured in Stoke’s last four Championship matches – albeit with three of those coming off the bench.

Paulo Gazzaniga to Elche (loan)

With first-team opportunities at a premium, Paulo Gazzaniga left north London to join La Liga side Elche on loan.

The Argentine’s move to the continent was confirmed on deadline day and it could be a permanent farewell for the stopper, who sees his contract at Spurs expire at the end of the season.

Gedson Fernandes to Benfica (loan termination)

Signed as one of Jose Mourinho’s first recruits at Spurs last year, Gedson Fernandes’ 18-month loan from Benfica was terminated prematurely.

The 22-year-old failed to make an impact at Spurs and has immediately departed on another loan, joining Galatasaray.
