Reports from Portugal suggest that Tottenham Hotspur are currently in a battle to sign Porto winger Pepê, informs the SportWitness.
A Bola newspaper features an article today claiming that Spurs and Paris Saint Germain are both vying for the 26-year-old player’s signature. It is even reported that Tottenham has already made a bid for Pepê, although it is still far from meeting Porto’s demands for the player.
PSG has also shown interest in signing Pepê, considering him as a potential replacement for Neymar. A Bola states that Porto president Pinto da Costa and the board are aware of Tottenham’s efforts and are requesting the player’s €75m release clause. The article does not disclose the specific amount Spurs have offered or if they have shown any signs of reaching Porto’s demands.
Interestingly, several front pages in Portugal today discuss the possibility of Porto manager Sérgio Conceição leaving for PSG this summer. If this were to happen, it would not be surprising if Conceição takes Pepê with him.
