Tottenham sacking Jose Mourinho seems to have taken giant step closer

Tottenham sacking Jose Mourinho seems to have taken a step closer. Reports have suggested a third-party has breached Brendan Rodgers’ views on taking over in north London. And the writing may just be on the wall for the 58-year-old, despite his side’s 4-0 victory over Wolfsberger earlier in the week.

Tottenham were back to their best against Wolfsberger on Wednesday night.

Dele Alli scored, Carlos Vinicius bagged a brace and Gareth Bale also got in on the act as they put the Austrian minnows to the sword.

But while Tottenham are now through to the Europa League round of 16, they’re still in the middle of a crisis.

Mourinho, true to form, has dismissed suggestions that’s the case. But Wednesday’s emphatic win aside, Spurs fans have had very little reason to cheer.

That victory was just their fourth since the turn of the year.

And for a side that were Champions League finalists under Mauricio Pochettino less than two years ago, it simply isn’t good enough.
