Two key senior players return to training ahead of Gent second leg

Both Nayef Aguerd and Angelo Ogbonna, the centre-backs for West Ham United, have participated in training ahead of Thursday’s Europa Conference League quarter-final second leg against Gent, writes the football.london.

The Hammers will be hosting the Belgian side at the London Stadium after the first leg ended in a 1-1 draw, with the winner advancing to the semi-finals against either Anderlecht or AZ Alkmaar. football.london was present during Wednesday’s training session to observe the players who took part in the session.

All but one of the senior players and the academy goalkeeper Krisztian Hegyi participated in the training session on Wednesday ahead of West Ham United’s Europa Conference League quarter-final second leg against Gent, except striker Gianluca Scamacca who will miss the rest of the season due to his knee surgery. Centre-backs Nayef Aguerd and Angelo Ogbonna, who had ankle and back issues respectively and missed the 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Sunday, were also present at the training.

Aguerd may feature in the game against Gent while Ogbonna, who is suspended for the match, will not be involved. West Ham had a 1-1 draw against Gent in the first leg, with Danny Ings scoring their goal. Midfielder Flynn Downes, right-back Vladimir Coufal, and academy striker Divin Mubama are all a booking away from a suspension for the first leg of the semi-finals.
