‘We are years behind’ – Frattesi reveals what Scamacca told him about West Ham training

As writes the FootballItalia, Davide Frattesi, the midfielder for Sassuolo, has given an interview to Gazzetta dello Sport, published on Friday morning. Frattesi commented on the difference in pace between Serie A and the Premier League and shared insights from his friend, Gianluca Scamacca, about training at West Ham.

When asked about his ability to perform in a Champions League team, Frattesi, who saw his move to Roma collapse in the summer of 2022, believes he is currently in the best place to continue his development. He said, “I am following the experiences of Scamacca and Raspadori. I understand that it takes time to adjust to a new environment. More importantly, you need to have the right mindset.”

Frattesi and Scamacca have a long-standing friendship and grew up together in the same city, spending several years in the Roma and Lazio academies. They played for Sassuolo together for five years until Scamacca moved to West Ham for €36m in 2022. They have also been called up to Roberto Mancini’s national team squads over the last two seasons and stay in touch regularly.

Frattesi also revealed that Scamacca has informed him about the difference in training intensity between Serie A and Premier League clubs.

Frattesi  said: “There is too much difference in pace between Serie A and the Champions League or the Premier League.”

“Scamacca tells me that in training they always give it their all, even when they stop for a drink break, they never really stop. Here maybe you take two or three minutes between one drill and another and it shows on the pitch. And then we are years behind in terms of gym work.”
