West Ham adds Leicester City 25-year-old star to summer shortlist

Regardless of their Premier League status next season, Leicester City is unlikely to be able to retain Harvey Barnes, according to a recent report from the Daily Mail, as relays the COS.

The 25-year-old winger is expected to depart from the King Power Stadium during the summer transfer window. Despite significant interest in Barnes during the January transfer window, Leicester City managed to keep hold of him. However, it appears that it is now only a matter of time before the club is compelled to let him go.

CaughtOffside has learned that Newcastle United, under the management of Eddie Howe, was one of the teams in discussions to sign Barnes earlier this year, although their interest has since diminished. If Leicester City were to face relegation to the Championship, their negotiating position would weaken.

With West Ham and Aston Villa reportedly including the Englishman on their transfer shortlists, the Foxes should prepare themselves for a potential battle to secure their number seven. Since making his senior debut for Leicester City in 2018, Barnes has amassed 44 goals and 32 assists in 186 matches across all competitions. He is currently valued at £32 million according to Transfermarkt.
