West Ham United eyes 21-year-old Stade Rennais ace as potential LB enforcement

West Ham United is actively pursuing a potential deal with Stade Rennais for 21-year-old full-back Adrien Truffert, relays the HardTackle. As the Hammers prepare for life without veteran left-back Aaron Cresswell, Truffert has emerged as one of the names on their shortlist. With uncertainty surrounding Cresswell’s future, West Ham’s recruitment team sees the French defender as a promising addition to their squad.

After a commendable tenure at West Ham United since 2014, Aaron Cresswell’s time at the London club appears to be coming to an end. As the 33-year-old full-back’s future hangs in the balance, West Ham is actively seeking a new left-back to bolster their ranks. Adrien Truffert, hailing from Stade Rennais, has caught the attention of the Hammers’ recruitment team as a potential candidate to fill the void.

Having been with Stade Rennais since 2015, Adrien Truffert has steadily progressed through the ranks and earned his spot in the first team in 2020. The 21-year-old left-back has showcased his talent in 113 appearances for the French club’s first team and has contributed to 18 goals during his time on the pitch.

Last season, Truffert’s performance reached new heights as he notched up seven assists in 38 outings, spending over 2,500 minutes on the pitch. While an injury kept him out during the latter part of the season, his impressive displays have attracted interest from various clubs eager to secure his services.

While Adrien Truffert’s contract with Stade Rennais is set to expire in the summer of 2025, the French club’s priority is to secure a long-term extension for the young defender. Talks have already commenced with Truffert’s representatives in hopes of keeping him at the club. However, if the negotiations do not result in an extension, Rennes might be open to accepting a transfer fee in the region of £15 million.

West Ham United remains keen on bringing Truffert to their ranks and has initiated discussions with Stade Rennais over a potential deal. The Hammers firmly believe that the French international possesses the necessary qualities to excel at the highest level and view him as an ideal replacement for the outgoing Cresswell.

As West Ham United looks to fortify its squad for the upcoming season, the pursuit of Adrien Truffert from Stade Rennais signals the club’s intent to bolster their defensive options. With Aaron Cresswell’s future uncertain, the 21-year-old French full-back has emerged as a promising candidate to fill the void. The coming days will reveal whether West Ham can secure the services of Adrien Truffert and secure their left-back position for the future.
